Access Controls

Programmatically dictate user roles, role permissions, and role assignment through the API with a code as infrastructure philosophy. Will be supported in upcoming releases.

Background

RogueDB believes code as infrastructure greatly enhances quality control through integration with CI/CD pipelines, version control systems, and day to day development processes. Programmatic modification to access control should be supported with simple, easy to understand APIs and eliminate the need for repetitive task overhead and complex access control integrations. Data schemas are equivalent to public APIs as it defines the expectation for consumers of the data.

Design

The design is simple. There are roles, users, and permissions. Users are assigned to a role based with the designated authentication method. Roles define a set of permissions for access to different data schemas stored in the database. Permissions allow for read, write, and modify (alteration of a data schema).

Dedicated and Shared Plans

All dedicated and shared plans will have the ability to implement access controls. This feature is expected in an upcoming release of RogueDB.
